Songhoy Blues

[split] United in Bamako – though originally from the town of Gao in Northern Mali – guitarist Garba Touré, singer Aliou Touré and bassist Oumar Touré (unrelated) began performing with drummer Nathanael Dembélé as Songhoy Blues in 2012, making music that sits somewhere between a Jimi Hendrix and BB King live jam and the energetic sound of Ali Farka Touré (Garba’s father). This new single, ‘Irganda’, meaning ‘our environment', is taken from the band’s debut album, ‘Music in Exile’, which was released by Transgressive Records in February 2015.
